Man jailed for 37 years after murdering Scots dad with hammer

The judge at Carlisle Crown Court described Crawley as 'highly dangerous' and 'callous'.

A 20-year-old who bludgeoned an army veteran to death with a hammer in October last year has been sentenced to a minimum of 37 years in prison.

Jack Crawley lured 56-year-old Paul Taylor, from Annan in Dumfriesshire, over the border to a secluded spot near Carlisle under the guise of a sexual encounter.

Crawley was also found guilty of attempting to murder another man in similar circumstances earlier this year.
