Marathon runner raising money for RNLI after dad’s double rescue

Lara Bird from Broughty Ferry plans to run the London Marathon for the RNLI.

A 28-year-old from Broughty Ferry is running the London Marathon for the RNLI, after her dad was rescued twice by the organisation.

On both occasions Lara Bird’s dad was out sailing when he got into trouble, and had to rely on the rescue service to save his life near Oban.

After suffering a spinal injury two years ago and recovering enough to start running again, Lara says she wanted to give something back to a charity so close to her and her family’s hearts.
