MSPs have defended plans to create a National Care Service saying it should “not be delayed,” despite grave concerns over how much it will cost, and fears it could drive workers away from the sector.

But the price tag of such significant change has come under scrutiny and those working on the frontline largely support it, but say it doesn’t tackle immediate pressures.
