New cosmetic treatment law could push procedures ‘underground’

MSPs unanimously backed a bill to regulate the sector last week.

Aesthetics practitioners say treatments like Botox and dermal fillers will be “pushed underground” and the market flooded with fake products, after MSPs unanimously backed a bill to regulate the sector.

The legislation bans non-surgical cosmetic treatments for under-18s, which must now be overseen by a qualified prescriber.
