New Home Office immigration rules for staff in social care are being blasted as “discriminatory and damaging”.
Overseas workers must now be paid more than local staff, as the minimum salary floor goes up to £12.82 – higher than the minimum wage.
Those in the sector warn some services in remote and rural areas may even be forced to close as they struggle with recruitment challenges and rising costs.
