NHS Grampian warns critical incident may be declared again ‘within months’

Lat month, pressure at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary became so severe a critical incident was declared.

There’s a warning that another critical incident may be declared in the coming months if more bed capacity can’t be found at NHS Grampian.

Last month, some ambulance patients were redirected to Dundee or Inverness as Aberdeen Royal Infirmary came under significant pressure.

The health board has said there’s no money in its budget to help find the additional temporary beds required to avoid a repeat of that incident.
