Number of people in deep poverty rises 50% in 25 years

The figures mean almost half a million Scots are living in deep poverty

The number of people in Scotland living in very deep poverty – that’s earning less than £11,000 a year – has risen by almost 50% over the last 25 years, new research has shown.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, who carried out the study is now calling on the Government to take urgent action.
