Ofgem announces energy price cap raised to £3,549

Energy costs have risen by 80% since April

From October a typical household can now expect their bills to go from £1,971 to £3,549 per year for their gas and electricity.

The price for electricity will rise on average from 28p per kilowatt hour to 52p, and gas will go from 7 to 15p per kilowatt hour.

It’s a dramatic increase that has caused many to wonder just how they’ll be able to afford to heat their homes and eat this winter.
