One in five children living in poverty, health board warns

A new report has uncovered the scale of the problem with its author has calling for 'bold, collective action'.

One in five children in the Highlands and Argyll and Bute now live in poverty, a health board report has warned.

Its author has called for “bold, collective action” to give every child the best possible start, and says the size and scale of the Highlands makes it a unique challenge.

Jennifer Davies, NHS Highland’s new director of public health, has cited solutions including prevention and equitable health and collaboration.
