A code of conduct for online competitions came into force on Wednesday, in a bid to try to encourage more sites to have stronger player protections.
Since Covid, the number of online competition sites has skyrocketed, giving people the chance to win big cash prizes, cars, and even mansions.
While for most it’s a bit of fun, there are warnings that vulnerable people are facing harm, and can cause people to relapse on a previous gambling addiction.
The UK Government has drawn up the code of conduct with industry leaders, but it’s voluntary, and not all have signed it.
