Pressure mounts on Swinney as protesters gather outside constituency office

A number of primary schools were closed across Perth and Kinross today.

Pressure is mounting on the First Minister as union members protesting over council workers’ pay took their fight to his constituency office.

Classrooms across Perth and Kinross remain disrupted, with more than 30 schools closed, as Unison continue their two weeks of industrial action.

But the Scottish Government says there is simply no more money to table an improved offer, and John Swinney has condemned the targeted action.
