Privately run prison receives damning report from inspectorate

Fewer than a third of prisoners at the privately-run facility in West Lothian said they felt safe

A damning report has been released into one of Scotland’s biggest jails – with the chief inspector of prisons describing the treatment of inmates at Addiewell as the worst she’s seen during her term in office.

It’s being blamed on a lack of staff and a lack of experience.
