Local residents say plans to build 125 houses onto the banks of the River Almond would destroy the habitats.

The Scottish Government has backed an appeal by house builders Robertson Homes to redevelop a riverbank site in the village of Mid Calder.

West Lothian Council say they have been overruled and that the decision is “appalling”.
