Grant Paterson was staying in the Monteverde area of the city when his B&B was destroyed in what is believed to be a gas leak explosion.
The 54-year-old, who works for CalMac, had shared pictures from the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain in the run-up to the blast on Sunday. He remains in hospital this evening.
