Scrapping not-proven among justice systems change proposals

The landmark bill puts victims and witnesses at the heart of justice

Scrapping the not-proven verdict, running pilots of judge-only rape trials and reducing juror numbers from 15 to 12 – are changes being proposed in a major shake-up of Scotland’s justice system.

Campaigners say the reforms could be “transformative” for victims and their families. However some critics say the changes will be a step too far.
