The UK government minister for AI and online safety, Kanishka Narayan visited a youth project in Leith on Friday as part of a consultation looking at whether under 16s should be banned from social media sites.
Discussions have centred on finding a balance between keeping users safe while not taking away the positives of engagement and collaboration.
Around 70,000 people have responded to the consultation that will now be evaluated, and social media brands have been warned they could face tougher regulation to make the platforms safer.
