The sister of a murdered man has told STV News that reforms to the scheme, which tells victims when offenders are being released from jail, are nothing but “window dressing” that will “let down” more victims.
Leslie Jones’s brother Tony was murdered in 2006, but she was not notified of his killer’s release. She only found out when she saw him out in the community.
The Scottish Government says the reforms will offer victims more trauma-informed support, but after hundreds of prisoners were released early this summer to tackle overcrowding – charities say the system hasn’t coped.
