Swinney urged to make ‘terrifying’ journey faced by pregnant women in the Highlands

Since 2016, many women in Caithness have had to travel to Inverness to access treatment.

The First Minister has been urged to make what’s been described as a “terrifying” 100-mile journey, facing many women in the Highlands requiring maternity care.

In a letter from Scottish Lib Dem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton and Caithness MP Jamie Stone, John Swinney has been told to face up to the “dangerous realities.”

The Scottish Government says it continues to engage on the matter.
