A woman was left with a £700 repair bill when she was forced to rip out part of her kitchen to replace an outdated electricity meter.
Christina Milligan, from Wishaw in North Lanarkshire, said she felt compelled to comply with the upgrade or face increased energy bills.
All RTS meters will stop working at the end of June, and Ofgem, the energy regulator, says that if people don’t replace the old equipment, they could lose heating and hot water.
