A woman stuck in hospital for three years whilst waiting for a care package has told STV News she is being “failed” by the Scottish Government.
Sylvia Sharma from Glasgow said it was one of the darkest times of her life as she “slipped under the radar”.
It comes as delayed discharge figures, which is when a patient occupies a bed for longer than needed, are now the highest on record – leaving A&E departments struggling.
A review by Audit Scotland found fundamental change in how NHS services are provided is “urgently needed” to cope with growing demand – and say there is no clear plan to tackle this.
However the health secretary insists there is one.
