World’s first self driving bus service underway in Edinburgh

Five of these buses will travel with a safety driver who takes charge when necessary

For an exciting development for public transport.

The world’s first self driving bus service got underway in Edinburgh today with hundreds of passengers crossing the Firth of Forth in vehicles that can drive themselves.

Fitted with sensors, the buses will be able to sense nearby traffic and potential hazards, but they won’t be without staff.
