A beautician has warned placing parts of Scotland into level four of coronavirus restrictions could see some businesses forced to close for good.
Kelly Livingston from Vanilla Salon in Glasgow said “people are in tears” over the potential decision, which could impact all-important December trade following a tough year.
Ms Livingston said: “So many of us are relying on December to kind of see, I suppose, a good end to what’s been a really difficult year.
“Tier four…is the difference between a lot of businesses remaining open and closing.”
On Tuesday, the Scottish Government will consider placing Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire into level four, the toughest tier of coronavirus restrictions.
If the decision is made, beauty salons and hairdressers alongside non-essential shops, pubs and restaurants in level four areas would have to close.
Nicola Sturgeon has said Lanarkshire and Greater Glasgow council areas have a “stable but still stubbornly high prevalence of the virus”.
