Boccia players practice at home with creative challenges

The Scottish Disability Sport association is helping players to stay focused during lockdown.

The governing body for the sport of boccia has come up with creative challenges for the players to keep them focused during the coronavirus lockdown.

Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bocce, that can be played by people with disabilities.

Gary Fraser, the performance manager at Scottish Disability Sport, has set weekly challenges for the players that unfortunately cannot practice together because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 69 players who are currently still practicing from home have been given one exercise a week to perfect for six weeks.

A creative video compilation has shown how the players are working hard and having fun despite the circumstances.

One player even decided to get creative and involve their pet in the game.

Mr Fraser said that keeping in touch with the team online is good for their mental health while in isolation and added: “It gives them something to focus on and keeps them motivated.”
