Care home residents sing wartime classic for loved ones

Residents at Jenny's Well care home in Paisley sang a rendition of Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again'.

Residents at a care home missing their loved ones amid social distancing measures have joined together to sing a rousing rendition of a classic wartime song.

The 1939 song ‘We’ll Meet Again’, sung by English singer Vera Lynn, was popular during the Second World War when soldiers left their families, friends and loved ones to fight in Europe.

The care home residents, sitting two metres apart, each held up signs with the song’s lyrics: “We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when.”

Other signs read: “We all miss you, but we are OK.”

Jenny’s Well care home in Paisley is run by the Scottish charity Royal Blind and specialises in care for older people with visual impairments.
