Donald John MacDonald, the editor of STV North, died very suddenly on Christmas Eve surrounded by his family.
The 60-year-old was laid to rest in South Uist, where he was born, earlier this week.
DJ – as he was known – will be remembered by all of his STV colleagues as a wonderful friend and a brilliant journalist.
In an obituary, Bernard Ponsonby, STV’s special correspondent, described DJ as “the granite anchor of news and current affairs coverage in the north-east of Scotland”.
This video report, from STV’s Colin Wight, explains why “in many ways, he’ll never leave us”.
