Football club helps teenagers struggling through lockdown

Hillwood Football Club has opened its pitch to youngsters as the coronavirus restrictions take toll on locals' mental health.

A local football club in Pollok is opening its pitch to teenagers for free to support them through lockdown.

Having no football and no interaction has taken such a toll on mental health that five young people in the area have lost their lives since lockdown began.

Hillwood Football Club in Glasgow has nurtured the early careers of Scotland managers and players – now it’s turning its attention to looking after the wellbeing of teenagers in their community.

The club has decided to provide a safe space to allow youngsters to have fun and speak up about their problems.
