A woman who spent 45 days in hospital battling coronavirus has amazed medical staff by finally being able to walk unaided and return home.
Maureen Deuchars from Dundee faced a lengthy fight back to full health after 19 days on a ventilator in Ninewells Hospital.
The 65-year-old is now back on her feet thanks to intense rehabilitation at the city’s Royal Victoria Hospital where staff are using their expertise with brain injury and stroke patients to help those with Covid-19 on the road to recovery.
Maureen’s family had feared the worst after her ventilator was switched off and she was unable to breathe on her own.
A few more days on life support and miracle Maureen slowly started to get better.
She says she owes her life to NHS Tayside staff who saved her and helped her to return home.
