A student has decided to hold online classes for people who want to learn British Sign Language (BSL) during the coronavirus lockdown.
Holly McConnell, a second year PE student at the University of Edinburgh, says both her parents are deaf which has resulted in BSL being her first language.
She has taught sign language before and has now decided to start broadcasting an online class for “children, parents, teachers and the general public” who want to keep busy while stuck at home due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Holly says her lessons will cover topics such as “the alphabet, fingerspelling, numbers, greetings, sports, food and drink”.
A YouTube user commented on her video saying: “As a teacher I have been wanting to learn BSL for years, even more so this year as I have a child who has deaf in my P1 class this year. This is a great idea”.
