Temperatures plunged below -6C amid widespread frost across Scotland in the coldest May night in the UK in five years.
A large area of high pressure currently covering the Atlantic has placed Scotland in a northerly airflow, meaning it has felt a lot chillier this week.
Overnight, the hamlet of Altnaharra in Sutherland in the Highlands recorded the lowest temperature of -6.1C.
Kinbrace, recorded -5.3C, Braemar dropped to -4.3C, Aboyne hit -4.1C and Resallach recorded -4C.
Last night is likely to be the coldest of the week.
There was a fairly widespread frost, with a chilly start on Wednesday morning.
But on Thursday, the wind directions change to more south-southwesterly. So temperatures will start to recover, and things will be feeling milder and less chilly.
However, the weather in general remains unsettled and changeable.
