Scotland recorded its warmest day of the year so far on Monday and we may not have to wait much longer for that to be broken.
The end of the bank holiday weekend brought unseasonably high temperatures across the country, with temperatures in some spots 12C above the average.
The previous warmest day of the year was on April 30 with a high of 24.7C.
On Monday, temperatures reached 26.6C at Charterhall in the Scottish Borders, while it reached 25.5C at Edinburgh’s Botanic Gardens.
And forecasters reckon by Thursday, the high temperatures of Monday could be broken with highs of 27C in places.

It was officially “taps aff” weather in Scotland on Monday, with our warmest day of the year so far.
We aren’t quite seeing the exceptionally high temperatures currently being recorded across England and Wales, but we’ve still seen unseasonably high temperatures today across Scotland, with temperatures in some spots 12C above the average.
Our previous warmest day of the year was recorded on April 30, when we saw a high of 24.7C. On Monday, we saw temperatures reach 26.6C at Charterhall in the Scottish Borders, 25.5C at Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, 25.4C in Leuchars and 24.9C in Aboyne.
With all of these locations beating the previous record, it makes Monday our warmest day of the year so far.
And we may not have to wait long for that record to be broken again, as later this week we will see temperatures peaking on Thursday, when we could see a high of 27C in some locations.
The next couple of days remain fine, dry and settled, however, we see temperatures coming down a degree or two on Tuesday and Wednesday before rising again on Thursday.
By Friday we see things going downhill once again as things turn changeable and unsettled once again – perfect timing for the weekend – so make the most of the current warm, sunny dry spell (if that’s your thing) as with most Scottish weather it won’t last long.
