A77 remains closed as work to damage from burst pipe continues

Scottish Water say the repair work has been completed but work to the damage caused is ongoing.

A main South Ayrshire road remains closed in both directions due to damage resulting from a burst water mains.

The A77 at Kirkoswald was shut at around 3.35am on Thursday after the water mains burst.

Despite Scottish Water announcing repair work has been completed, the road remains closed while work to the damage caused it ongoing.

Nearby businesses, Souter’s Inn and Kirklands House & Garden garden centre, remain open.

Traffic Scotland have issued details of diversions in place.

The website states: “Southbound traffic from roundabout turn right on to the B7023, continue straight on to the A719, follow the A719 to Turnberry and re join the A77 southbound

“Northbound traffic turn left on to the A719 at Turnberry, follow the A719 and join the B7023 continue on the B7023 and turn left at the roundabout to re join the A77 northbound.”
