A road in Inverclyde has reopened six hours after a pedestrian was struck by a car near a roundabout.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on the A8 in Port Glasgow around 7am on Wednesday morning.

The condition of the pedestrian is not known.

The road was closed for a number of hours before later reopening around 1pm.

A police spokesperson said: “The A8 Greenock Road in Port Glasgow has reopened following a crash involving a pedestrian and a car which was reported around 7am on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

“Motorists are thanked for their patience.”
