Police are investigating a report of a man “tampering” with Rangers star Alfredo Morelos’ car.
The Ibrox striker is believed to have found someone under his car before chasing him on foot on Tuesday evening in Glasgow.
Officers confirmed the vehicle has since been removed for examination but said “at this time no criminality has been established”.
Detective Inspector Kenny McDonald said: “Following reports of a man allegedly tampering with a car in a secured car park in Glasgow last night, Tuesday, January 28, I can confirm that we have removed the vehicle for examination.
“At this time no criminality has been established.”
Speaking after Rangers’ 2-0 win over Ross County, in which Morelos came off the bench, his manager Steven Gerrard said: “In terms of what happened last night, I don’t know the full details just yet.
“I haven’t had the chance to speak to Alfredo. I was only aware of the incident a couple of hours before kick-off.
“But I’m told it’s a police investigation now, so we’ll support that. There’s not really much I can say on the incident now but the good thing is he’s fine. He’s okay and we will see what comes from it.
“What I’m told, obviously a very unfortunate situation and not one that happens to you every day, that’s for sure.
“He’s fine because that’s the way he is. He’s pretty laid back and he handled the situation extremely well, probably better than I would have done.”
