An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a dead puppy in a burn.
The female French bulldog was spotted in the water by a member of the public near Murdostoun Road in Bonkle, North Lanarkshire, last Tuesday.
The dog was believed to be aged between five and eight-weeks-old.
Scottish SPCA inspector Heather Lawson said: “We don’t think she had been in the water long.
“We are unable to determine how the puppy died and whether she was dead before she was put in the burn.
“We are appealing to members of the public to see if they can shed any light on how the puppy came to be found in these circumstances.”
If you have any information, call the Scottish SPCA’s confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
