Lanarkshire police are appealing for information after two cars were deliberately set on fire on the same night.
At around 11.40pm on July 4, officers were called to a report of a Ford Mondeo car on fire outside a property on Nevis Place, Shotts.
A short time later, officers attended a report of an Audi Q3 car on fire outside a property in Herbison Crescent, Shotts.
Both fires were quickly extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Nobody was injured as a result of the fires.
Extensive enquiries have revealed that the fires were started deliberately, police have said.
At this stage, officers are not linking these incidents – but are “keeping an open mind” about any possible connections.
Detective Constable Chris Smith, of Wishaw CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of these reckless acts.
“While we are not linking these incidents at this stage, we are keeping an open mind about whether they are connected.
“I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and who may have seen anything suspicious, to get in touch.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage that could assist our investigation.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3846 of Monday, July 4, 2022.
“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
