Getty ImagesA man accused of writing political graffiti on a war memorial has a warrant out for his arrest.
Paul Nixon, 47, was due to stand trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday but did not attend.
Court papers state he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner at the city’s George Square on February 10, 2024.
It is claimed that Nixon defaced the war memorial cenotaph and other statues by applying chalk graffiti of a political nature.
The charge further states that Nixon, of the city’s Kelvinhall, committed a breach of the peace.
A separate charge claims Nixon behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on the same date.
It is alleged he applied chalk graffiti of a political nature on the walls of the Bank of Scotland and House of Fraser on the city’s Argyle Street.
The charge goes on to say Nixon was challenged by members of staff at the bank.
He is stated to have become aggressive, then shouted and swore at them.
The warrant was granted by Sheriff Patrick Hughes.
