A Glasgow railway station is being transformed with new artwork as the city gets ready to host the world’s leaders for COP26.
In the coming weeks people travelling through Anderston Station, near the summit venue, will notice a group of artists, led by designer Gabriella Marcella, have added a splash of colour.
A new design has appeared at the entrance of the station, in addition to some new greenery and benches.
With 50 days until the Conference of the Parties climate summit, Bloomberg Philanthropies is collaborating with Glasgow City Council to help “deliver a legacy” for the city and its residents.
Glasgow joins a select group of international cities supported by the organisation, founded by former US presidental candidate Michael Bloomberg, to “transform and revitalise public spaces through the power of art”.
Ms Marcella said “I’m delighted that the project is in its final stages, and the public have been able to see our work progress in real-time. It’s been a challenging site to work across, but the giant graphics and colour have prevailed!
“I hope the finished work brings a smile to people’s faces as they pass by, and encourages thoughts around water, and how we might rethink our relationship to it in our wonderful, and sometimes rainy, city.”
