Police have launched an investigation into an attempted murder bid after a man was found unresponsive in the street in Paisley.

The 40-year-old man was found injured on George Street around 11.55pm on Friday night.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with any information which may assist with the investigation to get in touch.

“If you have doorbell cameras, private CCTV or a dashcam, please review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.

“We would also like to speak to those who assisted officers in locating the injured man. If you have not spoken to officers yet, please contact us.”
