Two streets in Ayr town centre have been closed after a fire broke out above a Marks and Spencer store.
Emergency services attended the scene after a fire took hold around midday on Friday.
The blaze has resulted in the closure of High Street and Newmarket Street at Sandgate in both directions.
Police confirmed that no injuries were reported following the incident.
The force has advised drivers to avoid the area as and they assist Scottish Fire and Rescue services with traffic management.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.10pm on Friday, January 19, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire on High Street, Ayr.
“Emergency services attended and officers are assisting Scottish Fire and Rescue Service colleagues with traffic management.
“The are no reported injuries.
“High Street and Newmarket Street are both closed and drivers are advised to avoid the area.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.39am on Friday, January 19, to reports of a dwelling fire on High Street, Ayr.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources to a fire affecting the front door of a flat.
“There are no reported casualties, and crews remain on scene.”
