Bag of 'remains' found in wooded area of town

Police were called to investigate the discovery in the Arthurston Road area of Alexandria on Sunday morning.

Police have launched an investigation after a bag with “possible remains” was found in West Dunbartonshire.

Officers were called to the discovery in the Arthurston Road area of Alexandria at around 9.45am on Sunday and locked down the area.

The contents of the bag are being assessed, and an investigation remains ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45am on Sunday, November 2, 2025, police were made aware of a bag with possible remains found in the Arthurston Road area of Alexandria.

“The contents are being assessed and enquiries are ongoing.”

It comes weeks after human remains were discovered on Rubha Dubh, near Firkin Point, on September 13.

They were later confirmed to be the remains of Graham Wright who was allegedly killed at a flat in Glasgow’s Castlemilk.

The discovery on Sunday, November 2, is not being treated by Police Scotland as linked to Mr Wright’s death.

Linda Kelly, 57, has since appeared in court accused of murdering and dismembering Mr Wright.

Another suspect, David McColl, 50, has also been charged with murder, and John Roarty, 54, has been accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice in connection with the killing.
