Bid to identify man who died after found lying on street

The death of the man found in Kilmarnock is being treated as unexplained.

Police are trying to identify a man who died on a Kilmarnock street.

The man was found lying on Western Road, opposite Knockinlaw Road, in the East Ayrshire town at around 4.05pm on Thursday.

An ambulance crew and local officers attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post-mortem examination.

Police are appealing for help to identify the man, who is described as being aged about 50, of average build, with a grey/ginger shaved head which was bald at the top.

He also had a moustache and beard, and some scarring on the top of his head.

He was wearing navy Nike jogging bottoms, a black Nike hooded running top, a navy Adidas T-shirt, a navy Adidas beanie hat and black Adidas trainers.

Detective sergeant Gary White said: “We’re currently trying to identify the man and are appealing to anyone who may have information about him or his movements on Thursday, April 16.”
