A nursery worker who pointed in a child’s face and called him a “f*****g gingernut” has had a warning placed on her registration.

The Scottish Social Services Council launched an investigation into the conduct of Audrey Wilson following multiple instances of unacceptable behaviour and foul language directed at children.

While employed in Bishopbriggs as an early years practitioner, Wilson spoke to children in a derogatory manner on multiple occasions, which the SSSC said was likely to have caused the youngsters “emotional distress”.

The SSSC heard that one incident occurred on July 21, 2025, when Wilson’s colleague, referred to as ZZ by the watchdog, asked children at the nursery if they would like to go on a walk.

Wilson pointed to a child, referred to as AA, and said “not f*****g gingernut anyway”, or words to that effect.

On the same day, Wilson also referred to AA as a “paedo” as he waited outside a toilet for another child.

She then told another child, referred to as DD, to sit on a chair until another member of staff returned from lunch, then said to another colleague that she would “throttle” him “if he was mine”.

The SSSC also heard of incidents which occurred on April 21, 2025, in which Wilson failed to check on AA after he was bitten by another child.

Wilson then chased the biting child, who has additional support needs, placed him in a chair and pointed in his face while shouting, “you are a naughty boy”, “wait until your dad finds out, he’ll be so mad at you”, and “I’m going to phone your dad”.

Wilson also failed to give AA his medication at the assigned time and failed to tell other staff members that it had not been administered before leaving.

AA later complained of a sore ear due to missing his medication.

The SSSC heard Wilson had grabbed another child by the arm and dragged her, saying “I dont have time for this” when she began crying after being dropped off at nursery.

Wilson was found to have told a further child to “go away” when they tried to join in with an arts and crafts activity.

The SSSC said Wilson’s behaviour was “concerning” as it showed a “pattern of misconduct”, adding she had failed to offer any insight or take action to address it.

Wilson was ordered to carry out additional training, and a warning was placed on her registration for 24 months, which came into effect on May 20.
