A body has been found more than two months after a man went missing in Dumfries and Galloway.
Dane McGill was last seen in the Dalswinton area around 12.30pm on Friday, November 10.
Following the 53-year-old’s disappearance, a major search effort using Police Scotland’s dog unit and marine unit as well as mountain rescue teams was carried out but failed to find any trace of him at the time.
Police have now confirmed that a body was found in the Dalswinton area of Dumfries on Sunday.
A formal identification has not taken place, however, officers have informed the family of missing man Dane McGill.
The force said there did not seem to be any “suspicious” circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 3.45pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024, the body of man was found in the Dalswinton area of Dumfries.
“Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of missing man Dane McGill has been informed.
“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
