Police say the death of a man found in a wooded area in North Lanarkshire is not suspicious.
The 57-year-old’s body was discovered on the A721 between Calder Road and Bellshill Road in Motherwell on Saturday morning.
Officers were called to the scene at around 8.30am, and the road was closed as investigations took place.
The death was initially being treated as unexplained, but police now say: “There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances”.
Calder Road remains closed to cars and pedestrians, and people are advised to avoid the area.
A statement from the force on Saturday night said: “At around 8.35am on Saturday, officers were called to a report of the body of a 57-year-old man found in the Calder Road area of Bellshill.
“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Calder Road is closed to motorists and pedestrians and people are advised to avoid the area.”
