A body has been recovered following a multi-agency search of a loch in Aberfoyle for a missing man last seen swimming in the water.
A large emergency service response was called to Loch Ard at around 9pm on Saturday.
Searches were carried out by the dive and marine unit along with the Mountain Rescue Team and air support unit.
The body of a 42-year-old man was recovered on Sunday afternoon. His next of kin was made aware.
The B829 at Aberfoyle was closed and has now reopened.
A police statement read: “The body of a 42-year-old man has been recovered following searches to trace a man who was last seen swimming in the water at Loch Ard.
“Police received a report around 9pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and extensive searches were carried out by the dive and marine unit along with the Mountain Rescue Team and air support unit.
“Early afternoon on Sunday, 11 May, the man’s body was recovered. His next of kin have been made aware.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report to the Procurator Fiscal will be sent in due course.”
Loch Ard Adventure Centre said they are supporting the search effort.
They said: “We are assisting and supporting the emergency services in any way we can with an ongoing incident that has nothing to do with Loch Ard Adventure Centre or its customers.
“We have no further knowledge or information. We are aiming to be open as normal on Sunday but please bare with us as we will prioritise our sites use to continue with supporting and assisting while operating as normal.”
