Parents have been left “unsettled” after threatening notes were found at an East Dunbartonshire school, which targeted teachers and issued a bomb threat.

Emergency services were alerted to the notes at Turnbull High School in Bishopbriggs on Thursday.

In one letter, seen by STV News, the author discusses “imposing fear” and that the Snowball for S5 and S6 pupils would be the “perfect time”.

The writer also calls themselves a “psychopath” in the the note found in the school grounds.

Other notes were directed at staff members, referencing their family members, some of whom had died, and describing another teacher as a “prostitute”.

Parents did not receive correspondence from East Dunbartonshire Council until after STV News published a story about the threatening notes.

One mum told STV News: “I feel totally unsettled, the notes are one thing, the way the school handled it is really concerning.

“They have a duty of care to all pupils in the school. The parents should have been informed from the day the first note was discovered.

“Some of the kids are as young as 12, reading these notes, not a single bit of support in place or even a point of contact for these kids who may have any worries.”

The local authority has issued a second email to parents from the chief education officer, which states that Police Scotland confirmed there is “no threat” against Turnbull High School and that “safety” continues to be a “priority”.

The correspondence also claims that other schools outwith the council area have received similar notes.

All council areas have been contacted for comment, and 17 have responded to confirm they have not received any threatening notes.

West Dunbartonshire Council confirmed they were also aware of a social media post circulating amongst pupils, however, it did not mention any of the schools in the region.

This social media post was reported to police, who confirmed there was no threat to schools in the area.

An investigation to identify the individual or individuals behind the notes is still ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of threatening communications at a premises in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances but there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public.”
