A “suspicious” object examined by bomb disposal experts in Inverclyde turned out to be lead from a boat.
Emergency services – including Police Scotland, Largs Coastguard rescue officers and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams set up a 30-metre cordon in Wemyss Bay as they examined the suspicious item.
Greenock Coastguard Rescue Team said an investigation by Royal Navy EOD on Undercliffe Road confirmed the item posed no threat and has been identified as a lead bulb keel from a previous vessel incident a number of years ago.
The item has been left where it was found and will be removed from another authority.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said earlier on Friday: “We were called to a report of a suspicious object having been found at Undercliff Road, Wemyss Bay around 8pm on Thursday, June 11.
“A 30m cordon has been put in place. People from nearby buildings have been asked to stay inside.”
