A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the death of a 16-year-old in an alleged stabbing on a beach in North Ayrshire.

Kayden Moy, from East Kilbride, was found seriously injured on Irvine beach following a disturbance around 6.45pm on Saturday, May 17.

The teenager received medical care at the scene but died at Crosshouse Hospital a day later.

The 14-year-old is the third teenager to be charged with Kayden’s murder.

A 17-year-old male previously appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 20, charged with Kayden’s murder, as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

A second 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the death and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, May 23.

He was also charged with murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

On Wednesday, police confirmed a 14-year-old boy was charged in connection with the death.

He appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody.

Following Kayden’s death, his family paid tribute to the teenager, describing him as “loved by so many”.

Detectives have set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team, which can be submitted anonymously.
