Boy, 15, charged after daytime assault near Asda store

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault in Hamilton.

Police Scotland said the incident took place in the Palace Grounds Road area at around 3.50pm on Sunday.

The road sits next to an Asda supermarket and a Vue cinema.

The boy is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 8.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 3.50pm on Sunday we were called to a report of an assault in the Palace Grounds Road area of Hamilton.

“A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection.

“He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 8 August.

“A report will be sent to the relevant authorities.

“Further enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
