A vaccination bus will make a pit stop outside a supermarket as part of efforts to make it as easy as possible for people to get jabbed against coronavirus.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) said the bus will run a drop-in clinic within the car park of the Tesco Extra in Springburn on Wednesday and Thursday.

It will then move to George Square on Friday before heading off to Scotstoun Leisure Centre next Monday. It will then park up outside the Co-op in Gorbals’ Crown Street on Tuesday.

The bus, which is operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service and has administered more than 10,000 jabs, will offer Moderna to anyone aged 18-29 wishing to receive either a first dose of the vaccine or anyone who has been waiting more than eight weeks since their first Moderna jag.

AstraZeneca will also be available to anyone over the age of 40.

Emilia Crighton, deputy director for public health at NHSGGC, said: “We are trying to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated, so the new vaccination bus locations should help us drive up numbers alongside our established drop-in and appointment centres around Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

“We continue to urge everyone eligible to come forward for a vaccine as this is the single biggest way to help control the spread of the virus.”
